Mario Pende's MENTOR Project Wins MSCA Doctoral Networks 2023

We are thrilled to announce that the MENTOR project, coordinated by Mario Pende, Head of the Cell Growth Control by Nutrients at Institut Necker Enfants Malades has been selected as a laureate of the MSCA Doctoral Networks 2023!

MENTOR, a multidisciplinary training initiative, will officially launch in January 2025. This project aims to study the mTOR protein's role in cell growth and its implications in cancers and monogenic diseases affecting millions worldwide.
Under the expert coordination of Mario Pende, the project brings together 15 specialized laboratories across the fields of chemistry, biology, and health. Supported by 4 million euros in funding from the European Union and Switzerland, MENTOR will recruit 18 doctoral candidates to join this innovative research endeavor.

The project will foster collaboration among students from various scientific disciplines, creating a dynamic research environment. By focusing on the mTOR signaling pathway, which is crucial for detecting nutrient levels and initiating cell growth mechanisms, MENTOR aims to develop tailored treatments for patients with genetic mutations.

We are incredibly grateful for the support from Université Paris Cité, especially the project engineering department of Faculté de Santé - Université Paris Cité, for their vital role in securing funding and supporting the project’s administrative needs.
