Patrick Mehlen is Director of Research at CNRS and director of the Cancer Research Center of Lyon. He is the leader of the dependence receptor paradigm and has deciphered the role of these receptors in pathological contexts. More specifically he has developed an anti-cancer candidate drug inhibiting the interaction of the ligand netrin-1 with its dependence receptors, that is currently assessed in several phase 2 clinical trials  He has published over 200 publications and received numerous awards such as the silver medal of CNRS, the Grand Prix Bettencourt des Sciences du Vivant, or the FSER price. He is elected member of EMBO since 2006 and of the National Academy of Sciences, Institut de France since 2013.
