After earning her PhD in Pathophysiology at Sorbonne Université (formerly Pierre and Marie Curie) in “cotutelle de thèse” with the University of North Carolina (UNC), under the mentorship of Dr. C.W. Davis, Camille Ehre joined the UNC Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center under Dr. Richard Boucher’s leadership as a postdoctoral fellow in 2005. In 2007, she started her research group as a Research Associate at the Marsico Lung Institute (UNC) to study the role of mucins in muco-obstructive diseases such as CF and asthma. In 2015, Camille Ehre became an Assistant Professor in the Pediatric Pulmonary Department, and, in 2021, she joined the UNC Department of Microbiology and Immunology. In 2024, she transitioned to an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, and continues to lead both the “mucin detection core” and the “imaging core” as part of the Marsico Lung Institute. Her research work, funded by the NIH, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) and Vertex, explores the interactions and network dynamics of high-molecular-weight glycoproteins that regulate airway clearance.

Seminar topic: Balancing Acts: The Dual Roles of Mucins in Cystic Fibrosis and Asthma
