Biosketch

Pamela Schnupf obtained her BSc Honours degree with Distinction in Biology from the University of Victoria in Canada and her PhD in Microbiology from UC Berkeley. As an NSERC-funded PhD student and then an EMBO and Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow at the Institut Pasteur, Dr Schnupf’s research focused on bacterial pathogenesis of Listeria and then Shigella.

Dr Schnupf then transitioned to the study of the enigmatic immunostimulatory gut commensal SFB for her second postdoc and since 2019 as an INSERM researcher and group leader. Her lab focuses on the SFB life cycle, the SFB-host interaction and the development of SFB as a novel vaccine delivery platform. Dr. Schnupf’s funding and honors include an ANR JCJC, ERC CoG, and the Gates Foundation Grand Challenge grant as well as by the Bettencourt Coup d’elan prize, the Grand Prix de Medecine “Jean Hamburger” de la Ville de Paris, and the Necker Foundation Innovation prize.
