Maria Leite de Moraes, Research Director at CNRS, is a distinguished scientist known for her contributions to the understanding of invariant Natural Killer T (iNKT) cells. She has made seminal discoveries related to the ontogeny and function of iNKT cells, particularly their role in experimental and clinical allergic asthma. Notably, Maria Leite de Moraes identified iNKT17 cells as a distinct lineage within the broader iNKT cell population. Her current research focus centers on the critical role of Innate-Like T cells, which includes iNKT, γδ T, and MAIT cells, in the context of allergy and autoimmunity.
