We are thrilled to unveil the 2024 Edition of our Prestige Lecture Series. This year, we have the honor of welcoming Prof. Mark Davis, a leading figure in immunology and the Avery Family Professor at the Institute for Immunity, Transplantation and Infection at Stanford University.

Prof. Davis's journey in science took him from Johns Hopkins University to the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), where he earned his PhD under the mentorship of Leroy E. Hood. He then went to the NIH to work with William E. Paul, where his pioneering work led to the identification of the first T-cell receptor genes—a landmark discovery that unveiled how T lymphocytes recognize foreign entities, illuminating a pivotal aspect of our immune system. Later at Stanford University his group discovered two more of the four T-cell receptors.

Throughout his illustrious career, Prof. Davis has been at the forefront of immunology, from elucidating the biochemical nuances of T-cell receptors to inventing new methodologies that have become indispensable in the study of T cell activity. His recent work focuses on the complexities of the human immune system, tackling everything from cancer to autoimmune diseases and infectious threats.

Prof. Davis's contributions have not gone unrecognized. Among his numerous accolades are the Gairdner Foundation International Award, the King Faisal International Prize, and induction into the National Academy of Sciences and the Royal Society. His work not only advances our understanding of the immune system but also paves the way for groundbreaking treatments and vaccines.

Join us for a week of enlightening discussions and scientific exploration with Prof. Davis. This is a unique opportunity to delve into the latest immunological research and its implications for health and disease.
