Ana’s main scientific interest lies in the field of host-microbe interactions and she enjoys the challenge of deciphering molecular mechanisms. Ana studied Cellular and Molecular Biology and then pursued a Master’s in Molecular Genetics and Biomedicine at NOVA University Lisbon (Portugal). She then studied intra-species interactions in Streptococcus pneumoniae at ITQB NOVA under the supervision of Raquel Sá-Leão.

In 2020, Ana moved to France and started her PhD in the lab of Pamela Schnupf where she is studying the interaction between the gut commensal Segmented Filamentous Bacterium and its host. Ana enjoys designing experiments, discussing science and training students.
